The Scorers are at start loaded with EVERYTHING they need to run the game from A to Z. That is to say, you can run the session without the PC and base station, once the Scorers have been set up. From this follows that you should not wait to change the movement to the last minute, but do it as quickly as possible to preempt that some Scorers continue to use internally stored movement data, that shall not be used any longer.

0. CHANGES BEFORE START OF PLAY
If no table has started to play, there is no restrictions on what you can do. The safe method is to STOP communication while changing the movement in the scoring program to avoid that some players start to log in.

If some players have registered their players IDs - and you change the movement totally - then the recommendation is to start (anew) from scratch with a totally new event. Otherwise the names will be wrong.

1. START WITH NEW MOVEMENT ("No")
The Start with new movement procedure implies that each and all Scorers will be forced to go to the START screen before they get the new movement.

The Start with new movement button appears in the BSC main interface when all Scorers have come to their START position. The Scorers will be allowed to START with the new movement once you have clicked this button in BSC´s main interface.

Forced start
You can use the Forced start option (found under SYSTEM) in emergency if the Start with new movement button would not appear. But please note that you should be alarmed if the Start with new movement button does not appear. It could be that you need to perform Recover, and/or re-enter missing results in conjunction with the Forced start. c.f. the Manual and what we write below under the headline How to recover.

2. BYPASSING START WITH NEW MOVEMENT
You can consider to bypass the Start with new movement procedure if:

i. the change of movement is trivial
and
ii. all Scorers that are affected by the change are in phase with BSC.

The second point implies that you should NOT click the "Yes" button if any table has finished the round preceding the round that you are about to change. That is to say, if the change is from round 2 and onwards, then all tables should have at least one board left to play in round 1; otherwise click "No".

Note that there is no guarantee that the BSC´s Main interface reflects the situation at the table. A table might have played several boards that have not yet been communicated to BSC.

How to recover
To bypass the Start with new movement button is not risk free; you might find yourself in a difficult situation if you have taken this shortcut. There is always a way to put things right, but you need to know what is going on and what you are doing. Generally speaking you should do three things when things have gone wrong:

i. Check if there are results in the Scorers that you do not find in BSC. And, if so, note those on a piece of paper.
ii. Use the Recover function to syncronize the Scorer(s) to the BSC.
iii. Re-enter any results (according to the first point) that would otherwise be lost.

EXAMPLES
It should now be clear that there are two factors that you should consider when changing the movement: WHAT is going to be changed and WHEN. You will find some examples of the most common situations on separate pages:
i.
Adding a pair
ii.
Adding a table

CHANGED NUMBER OF BOARDS
Suppose that you decide to reduce the number of boards because the game is running [too] late.

You can safely bypass the Start with new movement question if you decide to skip the last round(s).

If you, on the other hand, decide to reduce the number of boards played in each round, you should NOT bypass the Start with new movement. Also note that you should not renumber the boards in this scenario, but remove the highest numbered board from each set. We suggest that you change nothing in the PC, if you are not sure how to do it, and instead tell the players to enter Skip board (the crossed over board symbol) on the removed boards.
